The Sussex Group of the GSP Club was started in 1979/80 by Alan Church, Ken Poundsbury, Derek and John Batchelor, Dave Cund and Paddy McIlvenny. A small group of friends living in the Brighton area who enjoyed getting together to train their GSPs. None of these founder members are involved with the the group now and sadly both Alan and Derek have passed on.
In the early 1980's Sue Parr, Pam and Pete Terry, Sheila and Ken Elliott, Lori Dempster and Trevor Shearman heard about the monthly meetings and went along and joined. Trevor became Chairman of the group and worked hard to eventually gain us Branch Status, which meant we could hold our own field trials. With the exception of Trevor who died a few years ago the others remain very much involved in the Branch, which has grown and regularly has 30+ people at the monthly training sessions.
